Question

Do HealthMarkets® Agents Receive Enough Training?

Answer

Agents representing the HealthMarkets Companies are responsible for accurately describing our products, including their benefits, exclusions and limitations because we hold our agents to such a high standard, HealthMarkets has made a significant investment in the training of our agents.

All agents must be licensed by the state where they sell our insurance products. Licensed agents must also complete and pass a mandatory product training program prior to selling any products from one or more of HealthMarkets' underwriting companies. This training program provides information on product details, proper marketing procedures, and compliance guidelines related to sales and marketing procedures.

In addition to product training, our field sales leaders have successfully completed "train-the-trainer" coursework as part of HealthMarkets University, a multi-day, in-depth program designed to give leaders a structured platform to use with their sales teams.

HealthMarkets University was developed to support four primary training areas: pre-licensing, basic training for new agents, centralized training that encompasses advanced sales training for more experienced agents and leadership training for our field sales leaders. HealthMarkets University utilizes learning modules with nine modules focused on training licensed insurance agents that are new to the HealthMarkets' sales team. These modules cover training on topics that include fact finding and servicing the sale. There are additional training modules for new sales representatives who have not yet received their insurance licenses. These modules cover areas such as; health insurance terminology, the basics of insurance and ethics.

HealthMarkets is committed to the agents that represent our companies and to ensuring that they are well-trained in order to better serve our current and prospective customers.
